ADULT EDUCATION

Old Testament Study: Huyser Lecture Series - Why Study Genesis?
The book of Genesis is less than five percent of the whole Bible.  Yet this book includes many of the more memorable parts of the Bible.  It relates events in history that involve cosmogony, biological evolution, natural disasters, beginnings of civilization as well as the origins of the races of man and existence of different languages.  The stories of the first family, of Noah and of the patriarchs are among the most familiar in all literature.  They include family relationships that at times are dysfunctional, with sibling animosities that involve murder, kidnapping and deceit.  These stories do provide a heritage for the people who later became the Israelities.  Attention will be given to the sources of the material in Genesis as well as wehn and how they were put in the written form we have in our Bible.
