Worship begins as the people gather. Drawn together by the Word (Spirit), we arrive by way of the world outside, and greet one another with the peace and love of Christ Jesus. Together we pray and read or sing scriptures and hymns of praise. We confess our sins in personal and communal life, and declare that we are pardoned in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. In response to Christ’s pardon, we give glory and thanks with joyful hearts.
At First Presbyterian Church we offer worship at 8:30 am and 11:00 am every Sunday. It is the focal point of our week and of our life together in community. Each service has its own style in an effort to meet the needs of the most people.
The 8:30 Service of Reflection: A Moment of Grace, gives each of us an opportunity to slow down and listen for the word of God in our lives. There are many moments of quiet in the service providing a time to reflect on the week and to relax in the presence of God. The music also reflects the quiet theme by drawing on a variety of styles including traditional, contemporary, instrumental and Taizé.
Our 11:00 Service of the Lord’s Day is traditional with organ and choral music by our Chancel Choir woven throughout the readings, liturgy and message.
First Presbyterian Church offers a variety of “special services” throughout the year including:
- A Service of Healing and Wholeness
- Sunday at the Lake in the summer
- Christmas Eve
